How much baking chocolate bar to add to powdered chocolate?
I have a cake recipe that calls for 3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder. I only have 1/2 cup. I do also have 1/2 bar (2 ounces) of unsweetened chocolate. Would that be enough on its own, or how much should I add to the powder?
Solid chocolate contains cocoa butter, which can change the result of your recipe. For every ounce of chocolate you put into the recipe, it makes 3 Tbsp. of cocoa powder and 1 Tbsp. of butter. So, you would be using maybe 1 and 1/2 ounces of chocolate, and take away 1 and 1/2 of butter.
