Fudge Candy

Can I use a meat thermometer instead of a candy thermometer for making fudge?

No. Well now, I suppose Julia Child could have done it.
Meat thermometers do not indicate the high heat required for some candy.

To tell you something, I don’t ever recall using a thermometer at all when making fudge and my children never complained.
